Naruto Shippuden Special Means No Episode This Week

Posted on: November 12, 2009

Naruto vs. Sasuke, from Naruto Shippuden

Don’t try to look for today’s Naruto Shippuden episode – the show has taken a week off of its broadcast schedule so that the animators can spend more time on next week’s special episode.

Next week’s special is titled Ruten no Hate: Kyoudai no Saikai (roughly, “On the shores of flux: the brothers’ reunion”) and will be all about the Uchiha brothers, Itachi and Sasuke. The extra time spent on the special episodes usually translates to improved animation and picture quality, so Naruto fans should be rewarded for their patience.

TV Tokyo has a short, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it trailer for the episode available on its official Naruto Shippuden site, which consists of Sasuke talking about how much he hates his brother and why.

The regular schedule for Naruto Shippuden will resume on November 26.

I don’t care. I stopped caring 45 episodes ago. Not only am I sick of Naruto but I’m convinced that Naruto *wants me* to be sick of it. Because let’s face it: Being told to find Sasuke interesting and sympathetic is preposterous. Sorry, I just can’t work up *any* giveadamn about an emotionless, murderous, cipher. Revenge is a lazy, boring-ass motive.

I’m also TI-ERD of the endless procession of clone-cipher ninjas with deadly powers that dovetail with their Very Traumatic Childhoods but which are always, eventually, without fail, defeated by the sheer power of Naruto’s Cheerfulness and Determination.

Save it. Stow it. Fuck Naruto.
