Japanese iTunes Adds Anime Song Genre

Posted on: November 17, 2009

Curse you, Hirano Aya! Go back to acting!

Hot on the heels of the weekend’s announcement of an anime music Kouhaku comes another concession to the contribution of anime to the music industry in Japan. The Japanese iTunes store just opened an anime song genre page, which is well stocked with music that’ll appeal to otaku of all flavors.

The anime songs genre on iTunes includes music from modern hits like The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi and K-On! as well as such classics as Mobile Suit Gundam, Sazae-san and Lupin the 3rd. It also includes a bunch of promos for Hirano Aya’s second album, if you are into her (I’m not – but you guys go right on ahead)!

This little tidbit from Anime! Anime! leads nicely into the Tuesday Tunes, too…
