Anime Reel – Anime & Manga TV News

Long Weekend News: K-On!! Movie, Ikamusume 2, etc.

Posted on: February 22, 2011

After a long weekend, there’s always a lot of news. First off, the K-On! Movie hits theaters on December 3, 2011. That’s with one exclamation point, which would suggest this is a repackaging of the original TV series.

They're back and bigger than ever!

But wait, there’s more! Lots more.

Next, a bunch of new TV anime announcements. Kamisama Dolls, a self-described  “Girl meets God” manga, will hit the airwaves this summer. Fukuen Misato (Yoshika in Strike Witches) and Okamoto Nobuhiko (Accelerator in Index) will head up the voice cast.

Girl meets god. What could go wrong?

Shinryaku! Ikamusume, the popular manga series that got animated last year, is coming back for a second season. This announcement came in this week’s Weekly Shonen Champion. More details will come at a later time.

The invasion continues de geso.

Henzemi, currently being animated as an OAD, will get a TV anime series starting on April 2. Animation production and voice cast will be the same as the OAD, and includes Hanazawa Kana (Nessa in Fractale) and Ishida Akira (Athrun in Gundam SEED).

She's the only normal one.

Finally, Ben To will be animated. It’s a popular light novel series about a boy and the battles he encounters in his local supermarket. No, really. Wikipedia wouldn’t lie to me, would it? No other details announced yet, but stay tuned.

Come back soon for more details.

Whew. Did I miss anything?
