“Bridge” gets Promo iPhone App

Posted on: April 5, 2011

Hoshizora he Kakaru Hashi (set to start streaming next week on Crunchyroll as “A Bridge to the Starry Skies“) is trying another way to reach out to fans: a promotional iPhone app.

Need to check on main heroine Natsukawa Ui? There's an app for that.

The app includes wallpapers, air times, character information, staff and cast credits, and links to official sites. The app is free of charge and available in the Japanese iTunes app store. (Actually, I just checked, and you can get it in the US iTunes app store if you can search for it in Japanese.)

This is not the first anime show to get an iPhone app. Last year Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai (My Little Sister Can’t Possibly Be This Cute) released a free app that promoted the then-upcoming PSP game.

Later they added an update that allowed you to get Kuroneko as a paid option for a mere 450 yen. Of course, you need a Japanese iTunes account for this (and yes, I checked, don’t say I don’t ever do anything for you).

(And if you’re wondering about Android apps, I haven’t heard of any official anime ones, but the Keitai Deka movie I mentioned a couple of months ago had an official Android app that functioned as sort of a scavenger hunt. If you scanned the codes on all the official posters, you got a wallpaper as a prize.)
